Adds a download button to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and X. About one minute to set up.
Download the extensionFree · 16 KB · Chrome, Edge & Brave
Click the button above to download the file, then unzip it. You will get a folder named clean-video-downloader. Remember where it is.
Load unpacked needs the unzipped folder, not the .zip file itself.
In Chrome, Edge or Brave, type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter. On Edge it is edge://extensions.
Flip the Developer mode switch in the top-right corner of that page. A new row of buttons appears.
Click Load unpacked, top-left. In the file picker, select the unzipped clean-video-downloader folder (the folder, not a file inside it).
Click the puzzle-piece icon in your toolbar and pin Clean Video Downloader. A download button now appears on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and X.
Open about:debugging → This Firefox → Load Temporary Add-on → pick manifest.json inside the folder. Firefox clears temporary add-ons on restart; a permanent listing is in progress.
Developer mode is a standard Chrome feature for installing extensions outside the store. This one is open about what it does: it sends the URL of the page you press download on, nothing else, and only when you click. See the privacy policy.
The Chrome Web Store prohibits extensions that download from YouTube, so no working YouTube downloader is listed there. Installing this way takes about a minute and the extension is identical. Firefox and Edge allow the category, and store listings for those are in progress.
